Hi friends,
With joy I write to you of my arrival here in Benin! It was a pretty uneventful trip. I did have some excitment getting into the terminal at Cotonou, Benin's largest city and where I am staying for the first couple weeks. Had to show my vaccination record, the up to customs, but no questions, just stamp and gone. But one of my bags did not arrive with me, but such is life! Lots to see here for sure! Amazing walking or riding a motorcycle taxi and never seeing a single white person, well I have seen about five the whole day, but all in the evening. The people here are very nice. Spent most of the day at the Adventist church in pathfinder training, went well. Not much contact with mosquitoes yet, but that's alright, definitely not complaining! Take care and God bless. Oh yes and welcome back to school (especially the CUC'ers, will miss you)
In His grip,
Eric

Hi Eric, love reading your "journal" blog or whatever, sorry I'm not a techy and I don't know the right lingo. It must be quite the challenge to type on a french keyboard..............I laughed when I read that. Glad you are able to communicate with us via this internet cafe........i'm amazed (i'm also old hehehe) that there is even internet over there,......pardon me people, but it was the 70's when I lived in Africa and BLOG and GOOGLE and internet were not words yet
..........anyway.......it's really cool to hear from you and read your impressions on the city and transportation etc... hope you'll post pics of a MORTORCYCLE taxi, I can only imagine what that looks like...............do they give you a helmet at least? I hope so, cause if i remember correctly there are no speed limits or if there are they aren't strictly observed...........and the bats, well I don't know what to say about that.........YUCK comes to mind LOL........did you know that Matt actually buys Bat poop to put in the plants, it's very rich...........how would you like that job...........Bat poop gatherer.......Il n'y a pas de sot metier.........did you like the poem cathy posted on my behalf.......I found it while surfing the infamous internet (i've figured how to surf yes)
and felt impressed to forward it to you. Keep posting, I love to hear from you. Happy Sabbath, praying for your safety, your health and your continued Samuel like obedience to our Lord.
Hugs and kisses
